ROADSIDE CHAT – DRIVE SUPER SOBER FOR SUPERDOME SUPER BOWL
It’s Superdome Super Bowl weekend, and you have some super tough decisions. Are you cheering for the Chiefs or the Eagles? Will it be burgers, pizza, or chicken wings? Wait…what about nachos, chili soup, or reshaping your cheese ball into a football? Maybe you’re deciding between watching the game at a favorite bar or going to the house party where you can show up with an appetizer in one hand and a 12-pack in the other.
No matter the scenario, if you make your decision to drive home based on how buzzed you feel at the end of the game, you may call a very risky audible. Make your travel game plan well before kickoff to drive sober or get a safe ride for the win.
For many, it’s an American tradition to have a few beers or cocktails while watching the game, but nothing ruins a victory faster than an OWI charge or, worse, a crash. Even if you think you’re "good to go" after a drink or two, it’s easy to underestimate how much alcohol impairs your reaction times and judgment.
Huddle up. The solution is simple: designate a sober driver before Sunday. It could be a spouse, friend, or family member who’s not planning to drink. You can also reach into the ride-share service playbook for a sober ride or schedule a taxi.
Even if you’re just in it for the Super Bowl commercials, your game-day decisions matter. So, make a plan, enjoy the spectacle, and may the best team – and you – win responsibly!
