Will you be donning a mask to celebrate Fat Tuesday tomorrow? If you’re behind the wheel after a few drinks during a Mardi Gras celebration, a mask isn’t going to hide your identity from law enforcement. The actions of a drunk driver can be extremely obvious to almost everyone but the drunk driver.
Here are just a few of the signs that a driver may be under the influence:
If you’re on the road and you see a driver doing any of these things, please either get to a safe location and call 911 or have a passenger report the behavior. The more detail you can include such as location, direction of travel, license plate number, description of the vehicle, the better chance law enforcement can catch up to the driver and assess the situation.
Never attempt to pull the driver over yourself. The police need to intervene so they can determine the exact circumstances and they are the only ones who have the equipment needed to determine if the driver is intoxicated. Once you have notified the police and given them all the information you’ve gathered, your job is done.
