Message Monday - Drinking & Driving impairs your 2020 vision
If your merriment includes alcohol, please be smart about how you’re going to get from one party to the next or home at the end of the night. Since a couple of drinks have a way of changing the way you view your abilities, making a plan BEFORE the festivities begin is always the best option.
Being safe if you’re impaired could include any of the following:
- Designate a sober driver – one you can trust to stay sober during all the merriment.
- Leave your vehicle at home and use a rideshare service or taxi. That way you won’t be tempted to get behind the wheel.
- If you drive and later realize you shouldn’t get behind the wheel, you can call AAA’s TowToGo service at (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246. They will not only take you home but tow your car as well. (This service is only available through 6 a.m. Jan. 2, 2020)
- Stay put. If you’re in a safe place with people you trust, pull up a chair or crash on the couch until morning.
For 2019, there have been 328 fatalities reported. That’s an increase of nine since last Monday. The 2018 fatality count stands at 319. This is subject to change as law enforcement reports are completed.
