Message Monday - Don't drop the ball - Plan a sober ride
It’s 11:59 p.m. tonight – the party is in full swing and you’re having a blast watching the ball drop in Times Square and singing Auld Lang Syne. 10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1 – and it’s 2019! But once the party’s over, do you know how you are getting home?
If you are planning to ring in the new year with alcohol or any other substance that might impact your ability to drive, make sure you don’t drop the ball. Plan ahead for a sober ride. Think about how you’re going to get home well in advance of the New Year’s Eve festivities. Waiting until you’ve already had a little holiday cheer can lead to the really bad decision to get behind the wheel.
Safe ride options:
- A trusted friend might volunteer to be your designated driver.
- You can call a taxi or ridesharing service like Uber or Lyft.
- You can all call Tow to Go at 855-286-9246. This free service is sponsored by AAA’s Safety Foundation and Budweiser. The service provides a AAA tow truck to transport the vehicle and driver home or somewhere safe within 10 miles.
