Message Monday - Buckle up, Pilgrim
The holidays are upon us. With Thanksgiving this week, many of us are packing up and becoming pilgrims, traveling to see our loved ones.
If you’re among the thousands of travelers expected to take to Iowa roadways this week, please remember these five tips to make it to your destination and back home safely: slow down, drive sober, focus on the road, stay alert, and buckle up.
Research shows at least 94 percent of all vehicle crashes are caused by drivers who make one or more bad choices. Don’t become a statistic. Focus 100 percent of your attention on driving when you’re behind the wheel.
Who do you think of when you hear the word, “Pilgrim?” (Hint, he was born in Winterset.) Check this out - https://youtu.be/9O8oLqY2sxo?t=3s
The fatality count of 294 is an increase of two since last Monday. In all of 2016, 402 people were killed on Iowa highways. To see statistics published daily by the Office of Driver Services, go to the daily fatality report at https://www.iowadot.gov/mvd/stats/daily.pdf
