IMG_0672Sitting at her desk at the Mason City driver’s license station on a chilly March morning, DL Examiner Susanne Morgan, overheard a conversation between one of her co-workers and a customer. Her co-worker was asking the standard question about becoming an organ donor to the customer who was renewing his commercial driver’s license. He didn’t seem keen on the idea and asked, “Even if I’m dead, why would I give up a part of my own body to a stranger?”

The station wasn’t busy, so that question opened the door for Morgan to tell her story.

4-3 message mondayPlay ball! Some of you who aren’t big sports fans might not realize today is a BIG DAY – the opening day of the Major League Baseball season, the 117th season in the modern era.

Nearly every movement in baseball creates a statistic that is tracked and used to measure the success or failure of a player, manager, or team. While statistics on distracted drivers are just beginning to be collected, the numbers are already alarming.
