Qmatic_2Few Iowa Department of Transportation activities impact customer more directly than the interactions at driver’s license stations. Improving performance and customer experience at the driver’s license station has taken a front seat in the past few years. From changing up the configuration of the space within the station to posting regular images of the amount of visitors at every Iowa DOT site online (click on any red icon and then “more info” to see images when stations are open), a renewed customer focus is evident using the Iowa DOT’s core values of leadership, respect, and teamwork.

Iowa DOT core values - how we operate day-to-day

StrategicplaniconAs part of the ongoing Iowa Department of Transportation strategic plan, management team worked through a process to define the elements that form the foundation of our agency. Those elements include our vision and key initiatives for change that help us define where we are going, but they also included our mission and core values that define how we operate day-to-day.

The Iowa DOT core values are the basis of how we, as Iowa DOT employees conduct ourselves. While the world around us changes constantly, these values remain steadfast. They are not explanations of how we do what we do, rather, they set an expectation of how we interact in our work lives, both with our co-workers and our customers.

6-1-message-monday100 Deadliest Days for teen driving has begun.

Memorial Day to Labor Day is referred to as the “100 deadliest days” for teen driving. Nationally in 2013, an average of 220 teens died in traffic crashes during each of the summer months. That is an increase of 43 percent compared to the other nine months of the year.
