Family happenings
This segment of the Transportation Matters for Iowa blog is a space where Iowa DOT employees can share family milestones with their co-workers. Celebrating life events like the birth of a new baby, a wedding, retirement or other personal news brings us closer together as an Iowa DOT family. If you are an employee and want to submit information for this section, please click on the "submit a story" link in the upper right corner or contact the correspondent in your office or work location.
Kathy Ridnour, executive officer in the Office of Systems Planning, retired May 30 after a 39-year career with the Iowa DOT. Ridnour began as a clerk stenographer in the Operations Research Office in 1975, and later worked in the offices of Project Planning, Advance Planning, and Systems Planning. After completing her bachelor's degree at Iowa State University, she worked as a program planner, transportation planner, and executive officer. In recent years, she was the state’s bicycle and pedestrian coordinator and then the Iowa Safe Routes to School program coordinator. Ridnour plans to spend time bicycling Iowa's trails, traveling, and visiting her sons, daughter, and granddaughters in Chicago, Kansas City, and Minneapolis. Congratulations and happy retirement, Kathy!
After 40 years of service, Gary Osby, construction technician senior in the District 4 office said goodbye to his co-workers May 28. Congratulations to Gary – we wish you all the best in your retirement.
